What is a Point of Sale (POS)?
Point of Sale (POS) is a secure payment solution that helps your business accept MoMo payments at your physical POS terminals and your online store. Your POS terminals and your online store work together, keeping all your sales in one organised place.
Why is a POS system important?
Connecting a reliable POS to your BoxCommerce online store ensures every MoMo payment is recorded correctly. This helps you stay organised, keep track of your sales and offer your customers a smooth, reliable payment option.
How to Onboard (Desktop)
1. Navigate: From the control panel on the left-hand side, click “Store”, then click on “POS”.
2. Point of Sale (POS): Toggle the “On/Off” button on the right-hand side to start setting up.
Please note: If you don’t have MTN credentials, click on the blue “Sign up” button to register with MTN MoMo.
3. Set up MTN POS: Enter your Merchant ID and store ID, then click on “CONNECT.”
4. POS management: To manage your MTN POS, click the blue “Manage terminals” button.
4.1 View & manage POS: This is a list of all your MTN MoMo POS terminals. Each terminal displays its serial number and the location it is linked to. Click “Manage” next to update details, change its assigned location, or unlink.
4.2. Update: Select the store or warehouse you want to link this POS terminal to. A green tick will appear once the location is selected. Click UPDATE to save the link, or CANCEL to return without making changes.
5. Unlink terminal: When the warning pop-up appears, review the message to confirm you are sure you want to unlink the POS terminal. Click “UNLINK” to remove the terminal from its location, or click “NO, CANCEL” to keep it linked.
6. Turn off POS integration: To turn off MTN MoMo link, toggle the button on the right hand side to "OFF". A warning box will appear. Click “TURN OFF” to disable, or click “NO, CANCEL” to keep MTN MoMo active.

How to Onboard (Mobile)
1. Navigate: From menu, tap “Store”.
2. POS (Point of Sale): Tap “POS” from the “Store” menu.
3. MTN POS: Toggle the “On/Off” to “On” to start the onboarding process
4. Setup MTN POS: Complete the following fields to connect your terminal(s). Then tap "CONNECT."
- Merchant ID: Unique ID from MTN that links your BoxCommerce store to MTN POS.
- Store ID: MTN-assigned merchant account number to record POS payments.
Please note: If you don’t have MTN credentials, tap the pink “Sign up here” button to register with MTN MoMo.
4.1 Linked: Once your MoMoPay is linked the "On" button will be green.
5. Manage terminals: Toggle the “Linked” button ON to link your POS terminals to locations. Use the Unlink option to remove a terminal from a location.
6. Link: To link a device, toggle the "Link" button, then tap "LINK".
7. Linked terminals: Once your terminals are linked, the “Linked” button on the right-hand side will be displayed. Tap “Manage terminal” to edit the settings.
8. Turning off: To turn off MoMoPay, tap on the green "On" button. A “Warning” to alert you that you are turning off MTN POS will appear. Tap “TURN OFF” to confirm your selection or tap "CANCEL".
