What are store and warehouse locations?
Store and warehouse locations are the physical places where your business operates. These can be retail stores where customers collect orders, or warehouses where you keep stock. Adding your locations to BoxCommerce helps you manage deliveries, Click & Collect, operating hours and stock levels more accurately.
Why are store and warehouse locations important?
Store and warehouse locations help your online store run smoothly by ensuring customers receive accurate fulfilment, whether they choose delivery or Click & Collect. These options also make it easier to manage stock across different physical sites and ensure your customers see the correct address and operating hours.
2. View Your Existing Locations: Here you can view your store and warehouse location details, such as where orders are processed, collected or dispatched. To add a new store or warehouse location click on the blue button “Add store or warehouse”.
3. Complete Your Location Details: To start setting up your location, first select whether you have a store or warehouse from the drop-down menu. Once selected, you can complete the address and operating details for this location.
Here’s what each section includes:
- External location ID (optional): Add an ID if your business uses external systems.
- Find address: Search for your address on the map or position the pin manually.
- Address details: Enter your building name, street address, suburb, city, province/state, postal code and country.
- Latitude & longitude: Coordinates pulled automatically from the map pin.
- Operating hours: Set the opening and closing times for each day of the week.
4. Unlink terminal: If you are using POS devices here you can link or unlike POS terminal device.
4.1 Edit a store or warehouse location: To edit your store or warehouse details, click on the blue button “Edit location details” and you can update changes.

Please note: This is an advanced feature, suitable for developers

- Manually sync all stock: Click this button to trigger an immediate bulk stock update if required.
- Bulk sync on a schedule: Choose how often BoxCommerce should sync your stock — options include daily or hourly.
- Real time stock update webhook (To update BoxCommerce): Use this generated webhook URL to send stock updates to BoxCommerce.
- Real time stock update webhook (To notify your external system): Add here webhook URL if BoxCommerce should notify your system when a sale is made.
4.3 Bulk Stock Import: To import bulk stock from an external system, enter the API URL provided by your developer. Click the dropdown menu and select “Daily” or “Hourly” based on how frequently your external system updates stock.
Please note: This is not recommended for ongoing stock management and should only be used when your developer advises it.
4.4 Real time Stoke Update Webhook: If your external system needs to send and receive updates on stock changes or when a sale happens on your online store there are two fields to be used for this. Use the generated webhook URL to send any changes in stock. In the blank field enter the webhook URL so BoxCommerce can send you any sale that happens. Once you have completed all the required fields, click “SUBMIT” to save your settings or click “CANCEL.”
Please note: BoxCommerce will send a notification to your external system each time a customer places an order.
