Product variants are different versions of the same product for example this could be a T-shirt that has Small,Medium and Large sizes. This could also be a product that comes in various colours or size options such as an iPhone 12 mini which can come in both multiple colours and storage sizes but is essentially the same product.
Step 1: Creating product variants
Once you have created your product, you will be asked if you want to add variants to your product (as shown below), you can cancel and proceed to the dashboard to attend to the next task or click ’add variants’ to start adding product variants.
Step 2: Creating your product variant types
If you’ve opted to add variants, then you will see the below on your screen, follow the below example to add options ie. Size, Colour, material etc. Follow the below format.
Step 3: Managing your created product variants
You can manage the inventory / price / volumetrics / description of each of your variants individually, this will allow you to have different stock levels for different variations. It would allow you to have different prices for different variations for example perfume with different size bottles. It will also allow you to specify different shipping sizes in the example where a mountain bike frame has different sizes and it would cost more to ship.
You can also add different photographs for specific variants, this is useful when you want to show a product that has different colours.
When you are finished adding your variants, click on update to generate your combination of variants (see the example below).
