What is a Flat Rate Delivery Option?
Our flat rate delivery option gives you the ability to use your own delivery partners by setting a fixed fee.
For example, if your product always weighs 2 kgs, you can set a flat rate based on that weight. The same can be done for distance-based delivery.
Why Set Up a Flat Rate Delivery?
Setting up a flat rate lets you choose your own delivery partner, whether it’s a professional service, a family member or a friend. You have full control over the delivery process but also need to take full responsibility to get your products to your customer.
How to Set a Flat Delivery Rate
1. Get started: From the homepage, navigate to "Store" and tap "Delivery." From the drop-down delivery menu, tap “Flat rate.”
2. Set up a flat rate: Once you have selected “Flat rate”, tap “SET UP NOW” to get started.
Please note: There are three available options. Choose the option that best suits your business.
3. Set up a weight-based flat rate: Tap “WEIGHT” to select your flat rate type. Enter the total order weight and the flat rate amount (e.g., KES/ZAR/$ 500 for up to 2 kgs). Tick the box to acknowledge the 10% BoxCommerce fee, then tap “UPDATE.”
Please note: Tap “ADD OPTION” to set multiple weights.
4. Set up a distance-based flat rate: Select “DISTANCE” as your flat rate type. Enter the maximum delivery distance and the flat rate amount you wish to charge (e.g., KES/ZAR/$ 300 for up to 50 km radius). Tick the box to acknowledge the 10% BoxCommerce fee, then tap “UPDATE.”
Please note: Tap “ADD OPTION” to set multiple distances.
5. Set up a fixed fee flat rate: Select “FIXED FEE” as your flat rate type. Enter the flat rate amount for all deliveries (e.g., KES/ZAR/$ 500). Tick the box to acknowledge the 10% BoxCommerce fee, then tap “UPDATE.”
6. Review and manage: After updating, you can see your flat rate options listed under Flat rates. From here, you can edit or delete a flat rate by tapping on the grey arrow. Tap “Edit this rate”, “Delete this rate” or “Cancel.”
