What is a Flat Rate Delivery Option?
Our flat rate delivery option gives you the ability to use your own delivery partners by setting a fixed fee.
For example, if your product always weighs 2 kgs, you can set a flat rate based on that weight. The same can be done for distance-based delivery.
Why Set Up a Flat Rate Delivery?
Setting up a flat rate lets you choose your own delivery partner, whether it’s a professional service, a family member or a friend. You have full control over the delivery process but also need to take full responsibility to get your products to your customer.
How to Set a Flat Delivery Rate
1. Flat rate access: Click on Store in the control panel, then select Delivery options. Select the “Flat rate” tab, then click the blue “Add flat rate” button to open a new flat rate option.
2. Set up a weight-based flat rate: Select “BY WEIGHT” as your flat rate option. Enter the total product weight and the cost (e.g., KES/ZAR/$ 500 for up to 2 kgs). Tick the box to acknowledge the 10% BoxCommerce fee and click “SAVE.”
Please note: Click “ADD OPTION” to set multiple weights.
3. Set up a distance-based flat rate: Select “BY DISTANCE” as your flat rate option. Enter the delivery distance and the cost (e.g., KES/ZAR/$ 500 for up to 50 km radius). Tick the box to acknowledge the 10% BoxCommerce fee and click “SAVE.”
Please note: Click “ADD OPTION” to set multiple distances.
4. Set up a fixed fee flat rate: Select “BY FIXED FEE” as your flat rate option. Enter the flat rate amount for all deliveries (e.g., KES/ZAR/$ 500 for any delivery). Tick the box to acknowledge the 10% BoxCommerce fee and click “SAVE”.
5. Edit flat rates: To edit an existing flat rate, click the blue “Edit” button next to the rate you want to modify. This will open the flat rate details page where you can make changes.
